Welcome to Chabad of Fourways |
|
Guided by the leadership, teachings and inspiration of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Chabad Lubavitch has set the dictum of “Love thy fellow as thyself” as the defining factor in its liberal approach, of unconditional acceptance of fellow Jewish people regardless of their background or affiliations. Chabad of Fourways was founded in 2008 as an educational and development, social welfare, religious and outreach organisation dedicated to increasing awareness and assistance among all segments of our community. It has become a place where people come to pray, learn, smile, laugh, grow & experience Judaism on their level and appreciate in our beautiful heritage. We offer synagogue services, youth activities, holiday programs, social programs, adult education, mitzvah services and weekly publications. See our website for the latest updates As the world’s largest Jewish educational and outreach organisations, and a vibrant force in global Jewish life, its activities have touched the lives of millions of Jews. With close to 4,000 educational, social and religious institutions worldwide, there isn’t a Jewish community in the world that has not been positively affected by Chabad’s work. In the beginning of 2012 we saw the desperate need for a Jewish pre-school in the area. There is no school that offers Jewish education. Unfortunately as a result all the Jewish children were attending schools with no Jewish education. We opened up JMP (Jewish Montessori Preschool) and now provide the opportunity for your child to learn about their Jewish heritage in conjunction with a top secular education.

Shalom and Welcome to our Shul Imagine praying in an atmosphere of total inclusion and acceptance, where you are welcome, in fact encouraged, to ask questions , and where you are implored to be as nonjudgmental of your neighbour as he or she is of you. This is the atmosphere that has been created in our small, unassuming Shul in West Hills which we call home. Shabbat Service Friday Night @ 6-15pm followed by a delicious Brocha and wonderful opportunity to meet members of the community and catch up Shabbos Morning @ 10am followed by lunch and a fabrengen Our Shabbat services are traditional. They are led by various members of our community, and chanted by members of our minyan. Services are conducted primarily in Hebrew, with some English passages sprinkled in for further understanding. The truth is that only each individual among us knows how he or she best communicates with G‑d. At Chabad the language you use or the pace you set for yourself are not of paramount importance. Our prayer books are written in both Hebrew and English, and the page numbers are announced continuously so you may always catch up if you prefer to meditate at a slower speed.. Please connect with the day and with G‑d and with your own soul in whatever personal manner suits you best. The tunes are old, familiar ones, and they are sung by those of us who know the words and by those of us who can only hum along, with all the gusto befitting the joy of the Sabbath.

Our school is a contemporary learning centre that successfully caters to Jewish families from all walks of life. Our school welcomes every Jew, regardless of religious background or level of observance. It is for this reason that our school does not require any membership or prior affiliations as a condition for enrollments.
Chabad Hebrew School was created with one goal in mind - to offer all Jewish children, even those with little or no background - an education and memories that will inspire them for a lifetime. To provide education that will instil pride, a sense of history, love for the land of Israel and a genuine understanding of what Judaism is all about.

Join us for a dose of inspiration and food for the soul on Tuesday evenings at 8pm Three thousand years ago at a mountain in a desert, a people gathered and heard G‑d speak. Since the day the Torah was given, generations of Jews lived by it and died for it. In every generation, sages and simple folk studied, argued and contemplated the Torah. Their questions, answers and lessons became a dynamic part of Torah tradition

Partnership/Membership in a synagogue represents a commitment to the community. It means that you are involved in keeping Yiddishkeit alive and seeing it continue to the next generation. It also gives you a framework of giving and contributing to the shul.It also means that you are a partner in supporting the financial needs of our beautiful Shul.
